PRP therapy

A sample of your own blood is centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich fraction, which is then re-injected to stimulate the tissue's own repair.

How it works

Platelets carry growth factors that prompt fibroblasts to produce collagen and improve perfusion around the hair follicle. Because the material comes from your own body, there is no risk of reaction to a foreign substance.

On the face: skin texture, radiance and superficial acne scarring. In hair: increased density of existing hair and reduced shedding in the earlier stages of pattern hair loss.

Who it suits, and who it does not

Suitable for

  • Early hair thinning with follicles still active
  • Dull skin or uneven texture
  • Superficial acne scarring
  • Anyone who prefers an autologous treatment

Postponed or excluded

  • Platelet disorders or blood disease
  • Anticoagulant use (assessed case by case)
  • Active scalp or skin infection
  • Advanced baldness where follicles are gone
What it cannot do

PRP will not grow hair where the follicle is gone, and it does not replace transplantation in advanced cases. On skin, it will not resolve deep scarring on its own.

Frequently asked

PRP therapy — questions

How many sessions?

Usually three to four sessions a month apart to build the result, then a maintenance session roughly every six months. A single session does not produce a meaningful result.

Is it painful?

It is easily tolerated. We apply topical anaesthetic beforehand, and on the scalp the injections are quick and shallow.

Does it work for everyone?

No. The result depends on active follicles and on the cause of the loss. That is why we assess before booking any course, and we may recommend something else.
