Radiesse

Microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite in a carrier gel: immediate volume, then progressive collagen building as the gel resorbs.

How it works

Radiesse works in two phases. The carrier gel provides immediate fullness. As that gel resorbs over weeks, the microspheres remain and prompt fibroblasts to produce new collagen, an effect that continues for months.

Suitable areas: jawline, temples, mid-face and the backs of the hands. It is not used in the lips or in very superficial skin layers.

Who it suits, and who it does not

Suitable for

  • Structural volume loss in the mid-face or temple
  • Jawline definition
  • Mild laxity needing collagen stimulation
  • Backs of the hands

Postponed or excluded

  • The lips — never used there
  • Very superficial subdermal placement
  • Known hypersensitivity to its components
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
What it cannot do

Radiesse cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase the way a hyaluronic acid filler can. That makes precise planning and correct area selection a requirement, not a preference.

Frequently asked

Radiesse — questions

How does it differ from ordinary filler?

A hyaluronic acid filler replaces volume directly and stays as placed until it breaks down. Radiesse gives immediate volume and then stimulates your own collagen, so the result improves over time rather than only declining.

Can it be removed?

There is no enzyme that dissolves it as there is for hyaluronic acid. That is why we use it conservatively, in defined areas only, and after a clear discussion with you.

How long does it last?

Typically twelve to eighteen months, with the collagen-stimulating effect persisting longer in some cases.
